Wyoming! You're 7 Pounds Behind!!

Tesas has the most meat donations with a narrow 7 pound lead over Wyoming!

We Broke 700!

Michelle (my favorite female) and I went to Fiesta and got another 30 pounds and Mandy (my favorite female) donated five and a half pounds of chicken. Those two additions, along with 17 pounds of beef and 4 pounds of Mystery meat from Vickie (my favorite female) put us over the 700 pound mark!

Thanks Vickie, Mandy and Michelle!!

Washington State Gets a Pin on the Map

We got a donation from Washington state. This was without question the most fun (for me, but I'm a touch warped)

Why was it fun for me? Why must I admit I'm a bit warped? Well, it's about the donation (and how I plan to report it). Quite specifically and in the spirit of the Flying Circus I need to say it like this.

The donation consisted of Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam, and Spam.

100 cans. 11 ounces each. That's meat, right?

Ashlyn Is the First!

As I pondered ways to motivate people to donate meat I came up with an idea (that I haven't publicised yet). The idea was to have some kind of an award for people who donate more than their personal weight in meat.

I haven't come up with what the award will be yet but before I got that far I saw pictures posted on Face book of Ashlyn Sibert loading chicken into a shopping cart.

She (with a little help from Nick and Susan I expect) delivered 75 pounds of meat to Allen Community Outreach. Not only did Ashlyn become the first to exceed her body weight in donations, but she also put Texas back out in front of Wyoming for statewide meat donations.

Way to go Siberts!!

Wyoming Begins Waking Up

Maggie and Gwen heard the call.

Maggie was the first to respond. Within days of learning the folks in Texas had outnumbered Wyoming in meat donations Maggie struck back by delivering 10 pounds of beef to a food pantry in Gillette Wyoming.

A scant few days after that Gwen Reed delivered an additional whopping 93 pounds of meat

Gwen brought in quite an assortment consisting of 56.4 pounds of beef, 25.2 pounds of pork, and 11.4 pounds of Chicken.

At that point in time Texas had the lead with 66 pounds compared with 15 pounds from Wyoming. These additions increased the Wyoming poundage to 118.

Thanks (and a tip-o-the-Stetson) Maggie and Gwen!

It Started

Pat Westre contacted me and told me two things. One I a already knew, the other I was thrilled to hear.

Pat told me that I was pushy. I already knew that but I suppose turn about is fair play. When I was in High School I ended up going to the Junior prom because she literally pushed me into it (that would be a whole new post but if 3 of you ask for it I'll write the story).

The other thing she told me was the best thing she told me. Patty is going to check the advertisements to see what the good deals are on meat.

I dream of waking a sleeping giant. I know (and have said) that the people in Wyoming have a sense of community like few other places. I expect other friends from Wyoming will wake up soon and in no time at all the tiny population of Wyoming will be showing 24 million Texans that it isn't the size of the boy in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the boy...

This is Priceless

Earlier this week I put out a plea to the folks in Wyoming. I informed them that the people in Texas had donated 82 more pounds of meat than they did (and they should try to fix that).

At first there was silence.

Then someone finally made a donation on behalf of Wyoming, but here's the priceless part. It was Carol Schaffner Berger who used to live in Wyoming but currently resides in (get this)

Houston Texas

(and she has for many years).

Now the folks from Wyoming should be mortified (and dare I say further motivated)?

Am I talking about you? It isn't too hard. Go get a chicken or a package of hamburger or some pork chops and donate it to the local food pantry. It isn't that much effort and the folks who need the food will truly appreciate it.
